Cardinals 3, Mets 1: Mets B-Lineup Does Little Damage

The Mets put together a not-exactly-major-league lineup today, and it performed accordingly. The standalone highlight of the afternoon at the plate was a solo home run from Scott Hairston. For what it's worth, Kyle McClellan pitched fairly well for the Cardinals.

Jon Niese started the game, and he pitched decently, allowing 3 runs over 5 innings on 3 strikeouts and a walk. As far as spring training starts go, this one was fine. In typical fashion for the spring, the Mets' bullpen didn't allow a run. These three innings were pitched by Blaine Boyer, Jason Isringhausen, and Taylor Buchholz, respectively. Boyer's name seems to be getting thrown into the mix to make the roster, but it will be intriguing to see what the Mets decide to do.

The Mets host the Marlins tomorrow at 1:10 pm, and the game will be on SNY.

Nice job by Brooklyn Dodgers Mets Fan; his effort in the game thread embiggens us all.
