As per an official release from the Sand Gnats, OF Darrell Ceciliani was placed on the 15-day minor league disabled list this morning after the Savannah medical staff confirmed fears about a hamstring strain. Ceciliani suffered the injury in the top of the first inning of Tuesday night's game while hustling to beat out a grounder to second base.
No word on the grade/severity of the injury but you have to figure that the organization will take its time with a kid whose legs are such an important part of his all-around game. Ceciliani --- aka @DCinhteplace2b -- had an All-Star campaign with the Brooklyn Cyclones in 2010, batting .351 with a couple of homers as well as 21 stolen bases and a club-record 12 triples. 2010 32nd rounder C Patrick Farrell -- who batted .263 with a homer in five games with Kingsport last season -- will be taking Ceciliani's place on Savannah's roster.
