AAA - Buffalo Bisons (7-10)_______________________________________

LEHIGH VALLEY 7, BUFFALO 5 (Box) As I speculated in yesterday's report, OF Fernando Martinez returned to the active roster yesterday and did so with a bang, hitting his first homer on the season. However in a game full of longballs that wasn't enough as the Bisons 'pen surrendered four runs in the final three innings to hand this one to the Iron Pigs.

  • CF Kirk Nieuwenhuis: 1-5, 2B, R, 2 K; Hit streak at 13
  • RF Fernando Martinez: 1-1, HR(1);...You completely redeem yourself!
  • 1B Nick Evans: 0-3, RBI, K, SF
  • LF Lucas Duda: 0-3, BB, 2 K; Batting .161 over his last 10
  • SS Ruben Tejada: 2-5, 2 RBI, 2 K, E(7); All these errors are really starting to get weird
  • 2B Luis Hernandez: 1-4, K
  • LHP Pat Misch: W, 5.2 IP, 3 ER, 5 H, 3 BB, 1 K, 1 HR; Back after clearing waivers for the second time in a month
  • RHP Manny Alvarez: L, .2 IP, 2 ER, 1 H, 0 BB, 0 K, WP; This is going from an early season slump to a serious concern as his ERA climbs over 10
  • LHP Mike O'Connor: 2 IP, 1 ER, 2 H, 0 BB 3 K, 1 HR
  • INJURY UPDATE - The third member of the perpetually injured trio -- along with Havens and FMart -- 3B Zach Lutz was finally placed on the DL yesterday. This was another one that I'd speculated on for a while based on his partial playing time the last couple weeks. And I have to wonder why they continued to pinch hit and spot start a guy with a long history of injury, especially since hamstring issues almost always get worse if played through.

AA - Binghamton Mets (5-8)_____________________________________

  • RAINED OUT
  • INJURY UPDATE - OF Lorenzo Scott was re-instated from the disabled list yesterday

Hi-A St. Lucie Mets (15-2)________________________________________

ST. LUCIE 5, JUPITER 0 (Box) It seems that anything Harvey can do RHP Jeurys Familia wants to do better so following Harvey's six scoreless with seven K's Familia tossed seven scoreless with eight K's in this 5-0 St. Lucie victory. Five multi-hit efforts from the Mets lineup certainly helped the cause, as did a very nice 6-for-8 with RISP.

Lo-A Savannah Sand Gnats (7-8)__________________________________

LEXINGTON 8, SAVANNAH 7 (Box) Back and forth affair where the Gnats took the lead early, lost it thanks to starter RHP Greg Peavey scuffling in the middle innings, tied it back up in the seventh thanks to an error but ultimately gave it away with errors of their own late.

★ Star of the Night ★

St. Lucie's RHP Jeurys Familia isn't going to make naming the hottest pitcher in the system right now an easy decision. He followed Harvey's six scoreless with seven shutout innings of his own and flashes just as high of a front of the rotation ceiling. Kudos to FMart for teasing us all into once again believing.

Goat of the Night goes to Savannah starter RHP Greg Peavey for coughing up a four run cushion by allowing an ugly 12 baserunners in his five rough innings.
