Mets and Marlins Rained Out, Wright to the Disabled List

The Mets and Marlins have already been rained out tonight. It may not be raining right now, but it sure looks like there's plenty of precipitation on the way. The Mets will miss Ricky Nolasco which can't hurt given their depleted lineup and Nolasco's excellence so far this season. The game has been rescheduled for July 18 at 7:10 pm, a Monday night which falls during a Mets' homestand between three games with the Phillies and three games with the Cardinals.

As for David Wright, he will officially hit the Disabled List tomorrow, retroactive to Sunday, because of the stress fracture in his lower back. Nick Evans will be called up from Buffalo to take his spot on the roster. Until Wright or Ike Davis returns from the DL, the Mets figure to use Justin Turner at third base, Ruben Tejada at second, and Daniel Murphy at first most of the time. Evans, Murphy, and Turner will give Terry Collins some positional flexibility on a daily basis. It's going to be a challenge for the lineup to keep the team afloat in the absence of its starting corners and center fielder, but stranger things have happened in baseball.
