Meet the Mets

Not much on the Mets front yesterday.

Around the Playoffs

No playoff baseball took place yesterday but tonight, game six of the NLCS between the Cardinals and Giants takes place in San Francisco. Coverage begins at 7:30 PM on Fox, as Chris Carpenter matches up against Ryan Vogelsong. The Cardinals hold a 3-2 lead in the series.

Adam Wainwright may be available in relief during the next two games of the series, should he be needed.

Around the Majors

It was a busy day for the Arizona Diamondbacks, as they moved outfielder Chris Young in a three-team trade with the A's and Marlins. The A's got Young, sending Cliff Pennington and Yordy Cabrera to Arizona. The D-Backs then moved Cabrera to the Marlins for Heath Bell. Odd. Ken Rosenthal thinks this is just the start, as he feels Justin Upton will be moved. Arizona also exercised the 2013 option on J.J. Putz's contract.

The Red Sox hired John Farrell from the Blue Jays to be their next manager. According to reports, they will send shortstop Mike Aviles to Toronto in exchange.

Derek Jeter underwent surgery to fix his fractured ankle and it looks like the recovery period is about four to five months. Meanwhile, CC Sabathia is concerned about his elbow and he's heading down to Dr. James Andrews to have a look at it.

After acquiring the center fielder Young, Billy Beane said that it is unlikely that they will re-sign outfielder Jonny Gomes.

Yesterday At AA

On October 20th, it was Keith Hernandez's birthday! Also, the Mets lost Game 6 of the 1973 World Series.
