Quick Recap: Mets 4, Marlins 2 — Mets Fry Fish In Season Finale

In their final game of the 2012 season, the Mets beat the rival Miami Marlins. Jeremy Hefner didn't quite throw a complete-game shutout, but he did put together a good start to end his season. In seven-and-one-third innings, Hefner struck out seven, walked two, and allowed just a pair of runs.

As for the Mets' hitters, Andres Torres hit a solo home run in the fourth, Scott Hairston hit a two-run home run in the fifth, and Ike Davis hit a solo home run — his 32nd of the season — in the sixth. Elvin Ramirez and Manny Acosta pieced together the rest of the eighth inning, and Bobby Parnell took over for a clean one-two-three save. He ended the season by striking out Bryan Petersen on a ball in the dirt.

We knew it was over when...

The Mets got out of the eighth inning with their lead intact.
