There were lots of great pitchers in the National League this year, but it seems exceedingly unlikely that anyone besides R.A. Dickey or Clayton Kershaw will win the Cy Young award this season. At 6pm EST tonight, the BBWAA selections will be announced on MLB Network.
If Dickey wins, he will be the first Mets pitcher to collect the top pitching honor since Dwight Gooden in 1985. If he loses, as previously agreed upon, we will all commit simultaneous hara-kiri with our New York Mets letter openers.
