There's not much in the way of Mets news on the day after Thanksgiving, but ESPN New York reports this morning that the team has signed right-handed pitcher Wanel Mesa to a minor league contract. Of all the team's recent minor-league additions, Mesa sounds like the least likely to play in the big leagues.

David Freese of the Cardinals crashed his Range Rover intro a tree as he avoided hitting a deer. Luckily, he wasn't hurt in the accident.

Catcher Mike Napoli, one of the better free agents on the market this winter, has been in talks with the Red Sox but plans to meet with the Mariners, too.

Gary Cohen favorite Bryan LaHair, who was designated for assignment by the Cubs, reached a two-year, $4 million deal with the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks in Japan.
