Meet the Mets
It looks like we're down to mere hours in the Mets career of Robert Allen Dickey, as there are many reports that the club is close to sending our favorite knuckleballer to the Toronto Blue Jays for multiple players pending examination of the players' medical records. The biggest name among those is Travis d'Arnaud, considered the best catching prospect in baseball. Also rumored to be coming to the Mets is toolsy center fielder Anthony Gose, who could serve to fill a gaping hole in center field and at the top of the lineup. For more, you can follow our Story Stream on the rumors.
Ken Davidoff has a pretty damning article that revealed some info on Dickey's penchant for self-promotion and his "popularity" with other players in the clubhouse. It's surprising that this all managed to be kept secret for so long.
With the Cardinals signing Ty Wigginton yesterday, the field for Scott Hairston seems to have narrowed.
Baseball America released their top 10 Mets prospect list and while the names weren't totally shocking, the order was different than expected beyond #1 prospect Zack Wheeler.
Jon Niese is a "hidden ace", according to Dave Cameron of Fangraphs. You'll need ESPN Insider to read the whole piece.
Around the Majors
Anibal Sanchez has agreed to a five year, $80 million contract with the Tigers.
The Phillies and reliever Mike Adams have agreed to a pricey 2 year, $12 million deal with a vesting option for 2015. He's very good but he's also 34 and just had surgery for Thoracic Outlet Syndrome.
Ichiro signed a 2 year, $13 million deal to stick with the Yankees. Seems pretty risky considering just how awful he was the last two years before going to the Yankees.
The Cardinals have nabbed Ty Wigginton on a two year, $5 million deal. Really? We're giving Ty Wigginton multiple guaranteed years? Oh baseball.
The Yankees were hit with an $18.9 million luxury tax penalty.

I wrote about some Angels' outfield trade targets that the Mets could look into.
John Sickels puts out his Preliminary Mets Prospect List for review. It seems like his initial Top 20 Prospect List should be coming out relatively soon.
The Mets signed Lance Johnson on a previous December 14th. He was pretty good that one year!
