Mets Morning News: Mets sign Laffey and get new caps, AA getting a facelift

New York Mets related news and links for December 28, 2012

There wasn't much to talk about involving the Mets on Thursday, as much of the northeast was still digging out from a post-holiday snowstorm. The Mets added some more pitching depth to the roster though, inking left hander Aaron Laffey to a minor league deal.

Yesterday at AA:

SB Nation showed us a few of the changes that we'll be seeing in the near future. This should make Amazin' Avenue look a little more similar to the old site.

The Mets released their 2013 batting practice caps which feature Mr. Met.

The R.A. Dickey face contest finalists were waiting for you to cast your vote, so if you haven't you haven't, you should.

Around Baseball:

Baseball Nation took a look at their favorite gifs of 2012, which is definitely an excellent use of you time at the office.

The Cubs have signed a former Met, adding Hisanori Takahashi on a minor league deal. I miss Tak2.

The Mike Napoli negotiations with the Red Sox just got a bit weirder. This would seem an ideal time for Omar Minaya to swoop in with a vesting option.

Another former Met pitcher has signed on with a new club, as John Maine will be taking his talents to South Beach.

Finally for today, any dreams of filling out the outfield with Hideki Matsui can be put to rest now that he has retired. Damn
