Mets Morning News: Mets Add Lobstein And Trade him To Detroit

New York Mets related news and links for December 7, 2012

Brad Barr-US PRESSWIRE

The Mets front office has packed up and left the winter meetings, and R.A. Dickey is still a member of the pitching staff. Not much actually happened for the Mets at the meetings, but Sandy Alderson still had a few comments.

David Wright just signed a new deal that will see him paid handsomely in the future, and he gave some of his money to New York CIty on Thursday to help with Hurricane repair. Quite a guy, that David Wright.

Justin Turner talked a bit about hitting, among other things.

Yesterday at AA:

We took a quick look at Kyle Lobstein, the player the Mets selected in the Rule 5 draft. Lobstein was immediately dealt to the Tigers for cash considerations.

We took a look back into Mets history on December 6.

Around baseball:

Ruben Amaro Jr. just wouldn't be Ruben Amaro Jr. without a winter move that makes everyone scratch their head. Dave Cameron took a look at the massive price that Amaro paid for Ben Revere.

The Red Sox made a bit of a better move yesterday, signing Koji Uehara for a reasonable price.

The Seattle Mariners seem intent on adding some competition for Jason Bay. They are rumored to be working very hard to add Josh Hamilton to the mix.
