The big news today was David Wright's return from injury. He played his first game this spring, going 1-for-2 with a single while making a diving play in the field. He exited after four innings. "I feel good," said Wright after the game. Happy news all around.
The Mets came back to win this one, scoring five runs in the seventh inning to take a 5-2 lead. Justin Turner's RBI double and Ruben Tejada's two-run single were the highlights. Johan Santana started the game and had a shaky first inning, giving up two runs while walking three and allowing a single. He was aces thereafter, finishing with a final line of five innings, two runs, five strikeouts, and three walks. Ramon Ramirez and Miguel Batista combined to hold the Cardinals scoreless in three innings of relief and Manny Acosta allowed a run in the ninth inning. Click here for the box score.
The Mets play the Braves in Port St. Lucie tomorrow at 1:10pm. SNY has the television broadcast. It's about time for the regular season to begin.
