Sandy Alderson may not be thrilled with the Mets' spring training record, but it's difficult to put any stock in the results when most of the team's starting players aren't playing in many of the games that don't count for anything in the first place.
Only two Mets who are penciled in to the Opening Day lineup - David Wright and Lucas Duda - were in the lineup as the Mets dropped yet another spring contest to the Cardinals. There weren't many highlights at the plate, but Vinny Rottino went 2-for-4 with a rib-eye steak.
Dillon Gee got the start for the Mets and allowed four runs in six innings. He struck out three, walked zero, and gave up a home run to Matt Carpenter. Bobby Parnell and Daniel Herrera each threw a scoreless inning after Gee departed.
The Mets visit the Marlins tomorrow at 1:05 pm, and the game can be heard on WFAN.
