The seemingly endless spring training schedule has finally come to an end. The Mets dropped their pre-season finale to the Yankees, but the outcome of the game was just as meaningless as any other spring game.
The Yankees scored all of their runs against four pitchers who will not be on the Mets' roster tomorrow. Dillon Gee, who most definitely will be on the roster, threw five innings and allowed only one unearned run. He struck out five and walked only one in the process.
Ike Davis was the star of the day at the plate, hitting his fourth home run of spring training. The three-run bomb was the only significant offense out of the Mets' lineup, but the starters only got a couple plate appearances each before giving way to the youngsters.
The Mets play their first real game of 2012 tomorrow at 1:10 pm against the Braves. Johan Santana will take the hill for the Mets, and Tommy Hanson will do so for Atlanta. The game will, of course, be on SNY and WFAN.
Nice effort by Brooklyn Dodgers Mets Fan; his effort in the game thread embiggens us all.
