Mets 6, Blue Jays 5: Frank Francisco Somehow Survives Tightrope Act

Getty Images

Well, that was scary. The Mets beat the Blue Jays 6-5 to salvage the final game of the team's weekend series in Toronto. They broke out for three first inning runs and Dillon Gee was decent over 6.2 innings of work. The bullpen was more LOLpen in this one, as Bobby Parnell allowed two runs in the eighth and Frank Francisco put runners at 1st and 2nd with nobody out before managing to strike out the side to seal the win.

We knew it was over when...

Frank Francisco struck out Eric Thames for the final out and not a single moment before.

What else?

Mike Baxter had a big day, going 3-4 with a single, double, triple and a walk. David Wright was 2-4 with a walk, a double and 2 runs batted in, bringing his season line up to .412/.513/.626. Ho-hum.

Gee tossed 6.2 innings, allowing 3 runs on 5 hits. He walked four and struck out 6 batters. He also gave up a solo home run to Jose Bautista.
