The New York Mets have recalled Vinny Rottino and have optioned Chris Schwinden to AAA Buffalo, according to the team:
Mets recall infielder/outfielder Vinny Rottino from Buffalo (AAA). Option RHP Chris Schwinden to Buffalo.
— New York Mets (@Mets) May 21, 2012
Rottino, 32, has just 29 games of major league experience, serving in spot outings with the Milwaukee Brewers, the then-Florida Marlins, and three games this season with the Mets. Over those 29 games, he hit .175/.233/.225, but he has not recorded a hit with the Mets over four plate appearances this season. With ten years of Minor League experience, Rottino has a career line of .295/.363/.423.
Adam Rubin suggests Rottino might see some time behind the plate:
Vinny Rottino caught his final two games with the Bisons, which tells you he may be more of a 3rd-catcher option now than last time up.

Schwinden, 25, has pitched eight innings this season with the Mets this season and has an 11.25 ERA, giving up thirteen hits, three walks, and four home runs in two games. He was previously activated April 26th to replace RHP Robert Carson.
