Mets Player Performance Meter, Week 3: Pitchers

The Mets return home from an ugly road trip with a 13-12 record which has them 2.5 games behind the first-place Nationals and 2.5 games in front of the last-place Marlins.

Stats below run from April 25 through May 2. In terms of run prevention, it was an ugly span for the Mets. They now rank fourteenth in the National League with a 4.60 ERA and 4.01 FIP. There were, however, some good individual performances mixed in with the bad this week.

Manny Acosta, RP			Manny was all Acostalypse this week. 14 hits and 11 runs allowed in 4.2 innings. It doesn't get much worse.
Miguel Batista, SP/RP			Decent results despite walking more opponents than he struck out.
Tim Byrdak, RP			Byrdak made a team-high six appearances and fared very well outside of the Todd Helton grand slam. That grand slam hurt, though.
R.A. Dickey, SP			Dickey's 13 inings of work: 13 K, 2 BB, 2.77 ERA. Outstanding.
Frank Francisco, RP			Strikeouts and walks looked okay, but he gave up two home runs in three innings. No fun.
Dillon Gee, SP			Gee was pretty good in his lone start of the week, notching 7 K in 7 IP.
Jon Niese, SP			Before his poor outing in Houston, Niese threw a very good game against the Marlins.
Bobby Parnell, RP			Outside of one home run allowed, Parnell had a good week. He should supplant Rauch as the primary setup man.
Mike Pelfrey, SP			Big Pelf needs Tommy John surgery and is done for the year. As a result, this is his last appearance on the player performance meter. It's been a blast, Big Pelf.
Ramon Ramirez, RP			Five strikeouts in six innings isn't bad, but Ramirez still gave up plenty of runs.
Jon Rauch, RP			Rauch didn't strike out any opposing hitters in three outings, and this time it came back to haunt him.
Johan Santana, SP			Six more scoreless innings from Johan this week, and he's looking as good as he ever has with the Mets.
Chris Schwinden, SP			Schwinden's promotion to the big league rotation has not gone well. In two starts, he has an 11.25 ERA, 1.1 K/9, 3.4 BB/9, and 4.5 HR/9.
