R.A. Dickey held the Diamondbacks scoreless through eight innings, and the Mets scored two runs in the first and one in the fourth to lead the way for the team's victory in the rubber game of the series. Dickey gave up a run in the ninth before giving way to the bullpen, but they held on to the lead to preserve the victory.
We knew it was over when...
Frank Francisco retired Miguel Montero on a fly ball to right field that Lucas Duda caught just a couple of feet in front of the fence.
What else?
It was not exactly a perfect day for the Mets. Ruben Tejada tripped in his way to first base, slammed his face into the ground, and left the game with a strained quad. There's no update yet on whether or not Tejada will hit the disabled list, but with Ronny Cedeno still out and Jordany Valdespin back in Buffalo, the Mets do not have a replacement on the roster at the moment.
