Mets Player Performance Meter, Week 7: Hitters

Scott Hairston, the best number 12 since Ron Darling.
Scott Hairston, the best number 12 since Ron Darling.

The Mets enter the weekend at 28-23, still just 1.5 games behind the division-leading Washington Nationals. The team's hitters had a good week for the most part, but there were a few Mets who struggled.

Player Last Week This Week Comment
Mike Baxter, OF Whitestone's finest didn't get on base much but had some pop in his bat.
Jason Bay, LF Still not on a rehab assignment.
Ronny Cedeno, SS Didn't hit much besides the DL this week. Burn!
Ike Davis, 1B Not much power here, but an improved slash line: .286/.375/.357. Baby steps.
Lucas Duda, RF Adam Dunn Jr. this week: .217 average with a .966 OPS, 9 K, 4 BB, 3 HR.
Scott Hairston, OF 1.500 OPS this week. Bench players don't get much better than this.
Jeremy Hefner, P Pitchers rarely make it to the hitters' player meter, but the dude hit a home run.
Rob Johnson, C Johnson was decent but has a shot to stick around when the Mets officially activate Thole today.
Daniel Murphy, 2B Depite a few defensive miscues, Murphy's .385 OBP made for a good week, but his power is still MIA.
Mike Nickeas, C He did hit a grand slam, but the rest was not so good.
Kirk Nieuwenhuis, OF All singles, no walks: .312/.312/.312.
Vinny Rottino, 1B I'll go with Lucas Duda Jr. here: .231 average, 1.025 OPS, 4 K, 2 BB, 2 HR.
Omar Quintanilla, SS For a guy with awful career hitting numbers, Quintanilla surprised everyone with a single and a pair of doubles in his first two games with the Mets.
Ruben Tejada, SS He may or may not have had a setback, depending on who you ask.
Josh Thole, C Thole returns today. Woohoo!
Andres Torres, OF He only started in 3 of the Mets' 7 games, but he looked good at the plate when he played.
Justin Turner, IF Turner played well in four games but jammed his ankle into first base in an attempt to get out of a rundown. He'll be out for a bit.
Jordany Valdespin, IF/OF One hitless plate appearance for Valdespin so far since his third recall of the season.
David Wright, 3B [Insert "Wright is human" cliche here.]
