The Brooklyn Cyclones season begins in less than a week and today they announced their Opening Day roster.

The big news is the inclusion of Mets 2011 first rounder Brandon Nimmo. The 19-yr old was originally rumored to begin the 2012 campaign with Lo-A Savannah; however after he didn't make the squad there was some debate about whether he would begin the season with Brooklyn or back with Rookie-level Kingsport.

Fellow 2011 draftee and top prospect Phillip Evans will also begin the season in Brooklyn after making a short cameo there last summer. For preseason profiles of Nimmo and Evans take a look at the 2012 AA Top 50 Mets Prospects list.

The Cyclones roster will also feature a number of interesting 2012 draftees, including supplemental first rounder C Kevin Plawecki and hard-throwing third rounder Matt Koch. For more on these guys take a look back at Alex Nelson's outstanding Draft Scouting Report series.

And that's not all. Additionally, the Cyclones will feature some interesting starting pitching talent this summer. Most notably, 19-yr old lefty Juan Urbina will attempt to improve on a rather underwhelming 2011 where he looked extremely hittable for the K-Mets.

You've also got yourself a pair of interesting Luises: 20-yr old Luis Cessa is a long, 6'3" righty with burgeoning stuff and good command. 22-yr old RHP Luis Mateo is a personal favorite who posted a ridiculous 16:1 K-to-BB rate for the DSL Mets last year.

And speaking of personal favorites, keep an eye on MI Juan Carlos Gamboa. The 21-yr old may not have much size (5'7", 150lbs) but he's got surprising pop and can really pick it at short.

The 'clones will kick things off on Monday night at MCU Park against the hated SI Yankees.
