Hooooo boy, Frank Francisco. This one had the makings of a laugher, as the Mets held a 4-0 lead in the eighth inning with Dillon Gee cruising. Then the Orioles scored two runs off Gee on a Wilson Betemit two-run home run. Then Francisco came in for the ninth inning, loaded the bases, and walked in a run to make the score 4-3. Chances of a win and sweep were decreasing, with Miguel Batista the only option in the bullpen to bail out the wild Frank Frank. But the big closer kept it together, inducing a ground out by Brian Roberts to end the game. Sweep.

Mike Nickeas, Scott Hairston, Ike Davis, and David Wright each picked up an RBI in support of Gee, who flirted with a one-hitter until the eighth. A "goose-egg sweep" would have been lovely, but we'll take wins even if the other team scores.

We knew it was over when...

Francisco recorded the final out of the game. Could've done without that ninth inning.

What else?

Scott Hairston did Scott Hairston things, as they say, going 2-for-4 with two doubles off southpaw Orioles starter Brian Matusz. He entered the game with a 1.061 OPS against lefties this season and boasts an .838 mark for his career.
