AAA - Buffalo Bisons (38-38)_______________________________________

DURHAM 11, BUFFALO 5 (Box)

A rough outing for Collin McHugh dropped the Bisons, who have now lost 9 of 10, back to .500. McHugh gave up three home runs and Jenrry Mejia continued his struggles working out of the pen. But hey, Josh Satin was 2 for 3 with 2 walks.

  • CF Matt Den Dekker: 1-5, 2B, RBI, 2 K
  • 1B Josh Satin: 2-3, R, 2 BB; HAIL!
  • 2B Brad Emaus: 2-5, 2B, R, RBI, K
  • RHP Collin McHugh: L, 5 IP, 5 ER, 6 R, 4 H, 1 BB, 6 K, 3 HR; Not worried about McHugh long term, but his stuff is just average, so there are going to be night's like this if his command isn't on point.
  • RHP Elvin Ramirez: 0.2 IP, 1 ER, 1 H, 1 BB, 0 K
  • RHP Jenrry Mejia: 0.1 IP, 3 ER, 4 R, 3 H, 1 BB, 0 K, 1 HR

AA - Binghamton Mets (34-38)_____________________________________

Erie gets their revenge after the beating they took last night.

Hi-A - St. Lucie Mets (2-1 // 51-20)________________________________________

ST. LUCIE 10, FORT MYERS 3 (Box)

Rafael Montero's Advanced A debut went well and he was backed by a big bomb from Travis Taijeron who continues to be the scourge of A-ball arms. St. Lucie was also helped out by the 8 walks issued by the Miracle's pitching staff.

  • LF Travis Taijeron: 2-4, HR (13), 2 R, 4 RBI, SB (5)
  • CF Darrell Ceciliani: 0-4, R, RBI, K; Back from the DL.
  • RF Cory Vaughn: 1-2, 3 R, 3 BB, K, SB (5)
  • RHP Rafael Montero: W, 6.1 IP, 3 ER, 3 H, 2 BB, 7 K, WP; Continuing to miss bats, a good sign.
  • LHP Hamilton Bennett: 1 IP, 0 ER, 0 H, 0 BB, 0 K; 2010 29th round pick is striking out better than a batter an inning after switching to a sidearm delivery this season.
  • LHP Adam Kolarek: 1.2 IP, 0 ER, 3 H, 0 BB, 1 K

Lo-A - Savannah Sand Gnats (1-2 // 42-28)__________________________________

AUGUSTA 1, SAVANNAH 0 (Box)

Michael Fulmer was the tough luck loser after being outdueled by San Francisco prospect Kyle Crick. Crick held the Gnats to just three hits, two from Camden Maron who continues to rake in the Sally league.

  • 3B Aderlin Rodriguez: Day off
  • CF Gilbert Gomez: 0-3, BB, K
  • C Albert Cordero: 0-3, 3 K
  • RHP Michael Fulmer: 6 IP, 1 ER, 2 H, 3 BB, 8 K; I feel like Fulmer is getting overlooked this year, he's a 19 year old having more than a modicum of success in full season ball. Slider is coming along as well.
  • LHP Carlos Vasquez: 2 IP, 0 ER, 0 H, 0 BB, 3 K; Filling the Angel Cuan role admirably this season.

    Short Season A - Brooklyn Cyclones (4-2)__________________________________

    BROOKLYN 7, ABERDEEN 1 (Box)

    The Cyclones' bats broke out, including home runs from Kevin Plawecki and Phillip Evans, while the pitching staff combined on a five-hitter. Juan Urbina made his season debut and looked good out of the pen.

  • CF Brandon Nimmo: 1-5, 2 RBI, K
  • SS Philip Evans: 1-3, HR (1), R, RBI, 2 BB; Look, it's a week of short season ball, but I was high on Evans before the season, and he is doing nothing to diminish that.
  • DH Kevin Plawecki: 2-5, HR (1), R, 2 RBI
  • C Jeffrey Glenn: 0-2, R, 3 BB
  • LHP Juan Urbina: 3 IP, 1 ER, 3 H, 1 BB, 4 K; A nice debut for the 19 year old, who reportedly struggled in XST

    Appalachian League (R) - Kingsport Mets (0-5)__________________________________

    GREENVILLE 9, KINGSPORT 5 (Box) (completion of Friday's game)

    Ugh.

    • SS Gavin Cecchini: 3-5, 2B, RBI, 2 K
    • 2B Branden Kaupe: 1-2, R, 2 BB
    • LF Joe Tuschak: 1-4, 2B, BB, 2 K
    • CF Bradley Marquez: 0-3, BB, R
    • C Tomas Nido: 2-5, HR (1), R, RBI
    • RHP Matt Budgell: 2 IP, 1 ER, 4 H, 2 BB, 0 K, WP
    • RHP Christian Montgomery: 4.2 IP, 3 R, 4 ER, 2 H, 3 BB, 4 K, 2 WP; 2011 overslot prep arm makes his pro debut and does about what you would expect. Velo reports will be the key here, as he reportedly lost some of his fastball before last year's draft.
    • LHP Alberto Baldonado: 2 IP, 3 ER, 0 H, 5 BB, 1 K, 3 WP; I had him as a guy to watch, but now I have an idea as to why he's back in Kingsport.

    Star of the Night

    Travis Taijeron doesn't think much of Advanced A-ball pitchers either. His programming only allows him to mash.

    Goat of the Night

    I can't pick on rookie ball pitchers, so let's go for the disappointing Albert Cordero who went 0-3 with 3 K. He might have dropped all the way to fifth best catching prospect in the org this year.
