The Dodgers didn't have a good lineup going Thursday night, but Chris Young got the job done. He avoided walks, kept his 85 mph fastball out of the heart of the zone, and only allowed a couple speed-aided extra-base hits. The Mets lineup didn't get much going, but David Wright did just enough. He broke the Mets record for walks with his walk, hit a home run, and drove in two-thirds of the team's runs. The Mets pen wasn't perfect, but they were good enough. They got the eight outs the team needed and put the game in the books.
All in all, it was just enough.
We knew it was over when...
When Bobby Parnell was pumping 100 mph fastballs and getting late excuse me-swings from the likes of Adam Kennedy and Matt Treanor. Well, we knew it was over when he got his first save of the year.
What else?
Ruben Tejada made some really nice defensive plays, and combined with Daniel Murphy on a key double play. He also had a hit and generally had a good day.
