Major League Baseball's Rule 4 Draft continues at 12:00 pm today. Last night, the Mets took shortstop Gavin Cecchini with the 12th overall pick in the first round and catcher Kevin Plawecki with the 35th overall pick in the compensation round.

Rounds 2 through 15 will take place this afternoon, and coverage will again be available on MLB.com.

In his scouting report on Cecchini, Alex Nelson writes:

"When all is said and done, I expect Cecchini to be a .280 hitter with 10-to-15-homer pop and patience at the plate while contributing average defense at short. Like I said, it's not a superstar talent, but there weren't superstar talents in this draft, at least not at 12, and it's very difficult finding shortstops who project as shortstops at the next level, especially in the high school ranks."

Of Plawecki, Alex writes:

"The obvious comparison here is A.J. Pierzynski, another catcher who has so-so defense, limited power and patience, but an excellent ability to hit line drives."

Be sure to read both of Alex's reports in full if you haven't done so already.

Update: Look after the jump for a full list of who the Mets have drafted.
