According to Adam Rubin, the Mets and first-round pick Gavin Cecchini have agreed to terms on a deal. Nothing has been disclosed yet, and the deal is certainly pending a physical. The fact that a deal was reached so quickly probably implies a signing at or under the slot figure of $2.55 million. So anyone who was dissatisfied with the pick and hoping Cecchini wouldn't sign can just resign themselves to a whole lot more Cecchini.
Several other draft picks have likely agreed to terms, but this is the first concrete report of a signing we've received. I would expect plenty more news soon.
You can find my scouting report on Cecchini here.
Update: The deal is for a reported $2.3 million, an underslot deal that gives the Mets an extra $250,000 to sign other players.
