DILLON GEE: Will have surgery today on his right shoulder to replace a portion of damaged artery...The decision to have surgery follows a recommendation made earlier this week by Mets medical staff and doctors in New York and Dillon's consultation yesterday with Dr. Robert Thompson in St. Louis...Dr. Thompson, who has performed similar procedures on several professional baseball players, will perform the surgery...Will be placed on the 15-Day Disabled List, retroactive to July 8.
JOSH EDGIN: Will be added to the 25-man roster today and wear uniform #66...Edgin, 25, was 3-2 with one save and a 3.89 ERA (16 earned runs/37.0 innings) in 35 games for Buffalo (AAA) of the International League this season...He struck out 40 in 37.0 innings...The 6-1, 225-pounder also pitched for Binghamton (AA) of the Eastern League this year, recording two saves and a 1.42 ERA (one earned run/6.1 innings) in six games...Originally drafted in the 30th round of the 2010 First-Year Player Draft, Edgin was a South Atlantic League AllStar in 2011 for Savannah...He also appeared in 10 games with the Mets in Spring Training this season, and was unscored upon in 10.1 innings.
