Pick 6 Fantasy Baseball, August 14

wait, what
wait, what

The games start late today, with the first pitch of the evening coming at 7pm, so the deadline to choose a team for Pick 6 is also late. Which means that we all have plenty of time to change our minds three or four times before the first game of the evening, rather than having to rush to get a team thrown together before noon.

Except for me, of course. Once this is published, I'm basically stuck with what I have. Pity me.

Yesterday wasn't the highest-scoring day ever, which explains in part how I was able to get 6th place with Jeff Samardzija as my starting pitcher. Also his eleven strikeouts, but I have to assume there's some kind of points adjustment when a player's team faces the Astros. Here's your top five:

Rank Player Score
1 CajoleJuice 59.5
2 IanB in MD 58.1
3 Reg Dunlop 45.8
4 goth brooks 44.8
5 Durelo 40.5

We'll forgo the weekly standings, since yesterday was the first day of the week and it's identical to the daily table. Which means fewer tables today, which is sad because they're kind of fun to make. Anyway, here's how I did yesterday.

Position Player Score
SP Jeff Samardzija 12.3
C Alex Avila -4.0
CI Adrian Beltre 1.6
MI Rickie Weeks 19.6
OF Mike Trout 10.5
RP Jose Valverde 0.0

Alex Avila must have some kind of vendetta against me, as every time I pick him, he has a terrible game. Beltre is the same way, and Weeks is precisely the opposite. Usually I'm halfway joking when I pick him, and every time he gets close to 20 points. Go figure. Here's my crew for today:

Position Player Price
SP Matt Moore $20.50
C Jarrod Saltalamacchia $14.25
CI Evan Longoria $28.75
MI Jimmy Rollins $4.50
OF Mark Trumbo $22.75
RP Craig Kimbrel $22.75

That should be fun. Today I get to "root for" Rollins and a Brave! Sometimes fantasy sports are a weird, weird place.
