An early 1-0 lead for the Mets vanished in the bottom of the first when Chris Young walked two batters, hit another, and allowed a grand slam to Ryan Howard. The Mets got closer with a two-run homer from Mike Baxter in the top of the fourth, then tied things up on a David Wright sac fly in the top of the fifth. The Phillies responded with a solo homer from Chase Utley, and the Mets' bats stayed quiet until the top of the eighth, when they tied things up yet again on a Kelly Shoppach RBI double.

The bullpens battled--no really they did!--with Robert Carson, Ramon Ramirez, Josh Edgin, Jon Rauch, and Bobby Parnell combining to blank the Phillies after Young's exit in the fifth inning. The Phils were the first to blink in the top of the tenth, as Ike Davis gave the Mets their first lead of the night with an RBI double. Lucas Duda contributed an RBI single, and Kelly Shoppach capped the rally with a two-run bomb. The Phils went quietly in their half to continue the Mets' curious dominance in CBP this season.

Full recap to come.
