The New York Mets and the Binghamton Mets have announced today that they've reached a four-year extension to their existing Player Development Contract. The new extension ensures that Binghamton will remain the home to the Mets Double-A Minor League affiliate through at least the 2016 season.
This comes on the heels of rumors that originally cropped up in February stating that the Binghamton Mets organization would be sold and moved to Ottawa this winter.
The Mets still have expiring PDC's with Triple-A Buffalo as well as Low-A Savannah. While chances are good that the club will re-up with Savannah, it's pretty much a forgone conclusion that Buffalo will seek a new partnership. Thus leaving the Mets with pretty much just one option as far as a Triple-A affiliate, the seemingly perennial 'eligible bachelor' Las Vegas 51's of the Pacific Coast League.
