The Mets' last win at Citi Field was a 3-1 win over the Cubs on July 7, over a month ago now. They've now lost nine straight at home after dropping a 13-0 heartbreaker to the Marlins tonight. Chris Young coughed up seven runs on seven hits — including three home runs — and didn't make it out of the fifth inning. Garrett Olson made his Mets debut tonight but looked like he's been in that bullpen all season long, giving up four runs on three hits in just a third of an inning. The Marlins scored runs at will, with three in the first, four in the fifth, four in the eighth, and two more in the ninth. Meanwhile, the Mets had ten baserunners — four hits and six walks — against Miami starter Nathan Eovaldi, but managed zero runs against him and two relievers. Add it all up and you've got the Mets' worst loss of the season.
We knew it was over when...
When Giancarlo Stanton hit is second homer of the game, a two-run bomb in the fifth inning, to put the Marlins ahead 7-0.
