Ruben Tejada hit a game-winning RBI single in the bottom of the ninth inning as the Mets completed a three-game sweep of the Marlins. Best of all, they did it with Marlins owner/leech on society Jeffrey Loria in attendance. Tejada drove in Scott Hairston, who singled against Marlins reliever Ryan Webb to lead off the frame. Hairston made it to third base after Andres Torres walked and Jordany Valdespin grounded into a fielder's choice.

David Wright hit a two-run home run in the first inning to give the Mets an early lead. It was his sixth career home run against Marlins starter Ricky Nolasco. Chris Young pitched six solid innings, giving up two runs on five hits while striking out five. The Marlins scored both of their runs in the fifth inning, the first on a sacrifice fly by Bryan Petersen and the second when Gil Velazquez trotted home from third base after Kelly Shoppach threw the ball into center field trying to throw out Gorkys Hernandez stealing second base. Ramon Ramirez, Manny Acosta, and Bobby Parnell each threw a scoreless inning before Tejada sent the Flushing faithful home happy.

This was a fun one to have after such a tough week. The Mets are now 11-4 against the Marlins this season. So that's something. Maybe they care again?

The Pirates come to town tomorrow for a four-game series featuring two second half disaster teams. Here are the pitching matchups:

Monday, September 24th: RHP Jenrry Mejia vs RHP Kyle McPherson
Tuesday, September 25th: RHP Collin McHugh vs LHP Wandy Rodriguez
Wednesday, September 26th: RHP Jeremy Hefner vs LHP Jeff Locke
Thursday, September 27th: R.A. Dickey vs RHP Kevin Correia
