Meet the Mets

Eric Young Jr and David Wright were nominated for Gold Glove awards in left field and third base respectively. Of course, that means that both were in the top three in vote-getters at their position and more importantly, means that center fielder Juan Lagares was not, despite being ranked highly by the defensive metrics and looking great by the eye test.

Mike Puma talked to Paul DePodesta about why the Mets passed on Michael Wacha in the 2012 draft. It's tough to blame them when 17 other teams passed on him but I don't like the talk of focusing on position players over going "best player available" either.
