Mets Morning News: Ratings down, Syracuse wants Mets AAA, Byrd still the word?

New York Mets related news and links for October 4, 2013

It wasn't a good year for the Mets on SNY, as television ratings took a pretty big hit. With the news yesterday that the Mets offseason spending could be dependent on refinancing some loans, this is probably not good news at all. Here's hoping the next commissioner is not pals with the Wilpons.

If the Mets do end up having a little money to spend, ESPN had a look at some players the team could be interested in. One guy that I'm sure most Mets fans would love to have back is outfielder Marlon Byrd, who sounds like he'd also be interested in a return.

Nobody was overly pleased when the Mets AAA affiliate moved from Buffalo to Las Vegas last winter, but it sounds as if there's a real chance the team could wind up in central NY in 2015. With our AA affiliate just a short drive to the south, I find it hard to believe we'd be able to come up with a significantly better fit.

The Mets are going to have an interesting decision to make in regard to Eric Young Jr. Most of the Amazin' Avenue community seems like they'd like to see him tendered a contract.

Jeff continued his series of prospect profiles with Miller Diaz, and also had a look at Juan Centeno.

Episode 37 of Amazin' Avenue Audio is now out.

Both National League playoff matchups got underway yesterday, and there will be four more games for everyone to enjoy today.

Former Met Carlos Beltran homered as the Cardinals beat up the Pirates in game one.

The Braves got beaten by the Dodgers in front of a surprisingly light crowd.
