Mets Morning News: Shin-Soo Choo choo-choo-chooses Texas

Your Sunday morning dose of New York Mets and Major League Baseball news, notes, and links.

Meet the Mets

Jerry Crasnick reported earlier this morning that Scott Boras is trying to engage the Mets on free agents Stephen Drew and Kendrys Morales. Both would fill holes on the team, though both would cost money that the Mets may not have along with a draft pick. It sounds like the Mets have little to no interest in Morales. Drew could be a nice fit, however, if they can't work out a trade for a shortstop.

David Lennon wonders which cap Carlos Beltran will go into the Hall of Fame wearing. Here's hoping it's the Mets.

Around the Majors

Shin-Soo Choo has chosen to sign with the Texas Rangers, agreeing to a 7 year deal worth $130 million.

The owner of the NBA's Golden State Warriors is interested in purchasing the Oakland A's and building a ballpark for them on the Oakland waterfront.

The Orioles are being aggressive in pursuit of former Rays closer Fernando Rodney.

Indians' catcher Carlos Santana is taking grounders at third base this winter and Grant Brisbee guesses it might not work.

The Rockies added two starting pitchers via trade this winter but have they actually upgraded their rotation?
