Meet the Mets
Mike Puma reported yesterday that the Mets are still engaging the Brewers, Orioles, and Pirates on first baseman Ike Davis but the price is still high. Puma says that the Mets asked the Orioles for 20-year old lefty pitching prospect Eduardo Rodriguez.
J.P. Ricciardi said in a radio spot that the Mets are happy with Ruben Tejada at shortstop and think he'll be better than he was in 2013. Ricciardi also gave his thoughts on young players and draft picks, both of which he feels are being overvalued by teams these days.
With the market rapidly shrinking for Stephen Drew, the Red Sox feel that they have all of the leverage in the negotiations with the shortstop.
Toby Hyde started his top 41 prospect list process by posting a list of the catchers in the Mets organization.
Around the Majors
The Yankees frugal plan may be coming to an end with Masahiro Tanaka getting posted.
At Beyond The Box Score, Alex Skillin builds a bullpen from the remaining pitchers on the free agent market.
Former Mariners' GM Bill Bavasi said he "just blew it" when he traded current big leaguers Shin-Soo Choo and Asdrubal Cabrera to the Indians as prospects back in 2006.
Twins pitching prospect Alex Meyer is a substitute teacher in his hometown during the offseason.
The Angels are considered the favorite to sign lefty Mark Mulder, who is making a comeback.
Yesterday At AA
Chris McShane wrote up free agent profiles for relievers Mike Gonzalez, Ryan Madson, Eric O'Flaherty, and Oliver Perez (yuck).
