Spring training games, by definition, don't count for anything, which makes it nice and easy to focus on individual performances rather than the final result. In that spirit, here's a quick rundown of the highlights and lowlights from this afternoon's game that the Mets dropped to the Braves.
- Marlon Byrd went 1-for-2 with a sacrifice fly, driving in two runs in total on the day. He's now hitting a cool .400 in spring training, which might give him a bit of an early advantage in the competition to make the team.
- Travis d'Arnaud and Ike Davis hit a double a piece.
- Jeremy Hefner was effective in three innings of work, allowing just one run on a solo shot by Justin Upton. He struck out two Braves and didn't walk any in the outing.
- Jeurys Familia nd Bobby Parnell each threw a scoreless inning in relief, while Rafael Montero (2 IP), Josh Edgin, and Darin Gorski each allowed a run in the game.
