Final Score: Mets 16, Twins 5 — Buck's grand slam just part of Mets' offensive outburst

The Mets scored ten runs in the first two innings and cruised to a win.

The Mets absolutely trounced the Twins in chilly Minnesota on Friday night. Jon Niese wasn't on top of his game, but his mediocre start didn't matter too much with the way the Mets were hitting.

The Mets plated ten runs by the end of the second inning, chasing Vane Worley from the game in the second inning with the bases loaded and nobody out. The Mets had already scored six runs by then, but John Buck capped of the early scoring with a grand slam. Buck has hit a home run in four straight games and now has six in total on the season.

Niese eventually allowed five runs in five innings and wasn't even close to sharp with his command. The Mets' bullpen kept the Twins off the board for the rest of the game, though. New York's bats went silent until a four-run seventh inning highlighted by a bases-loaded, base clearing double by Daniel Murphy. The Mets tacked on two insurance runs in the ninth, too.
