Final Score: Dodgers 7, Mets 2 — Mark Ellis, other Dodgers beat Mets

Welp.

Jeff Zelevansky

The Mets dropped the first of three games against the Dodgers in miserable fashion. Jon Niese gave up the first run of the game in the second inning and was forced to leave in the third when a Mark Ellis ground ball drilled him in the leg. The relatively good news was that his injury was just a contusion, not a break.

With Niese out of the game and Clayton Kershaw on the mound for Los Angeles, the Mets managed to score twice in the third to take a lead. The Dodgers knotted the game in the fifth, though, and piled on three runs in the seventh and two in the eighth against the Mets' bullpen. The Mets didn't score again in the game.
