Final Score: Dodgers 3, Mets 2 — Ethier KO's Metsies in Ninth

Jeremy Hefner kept the Mets even with Hyun-Jin Ryu through seven innings, but Andre Ethier came through with an RBI single in the ninth inning to give Los Angeles the win.

Jeremy Hefner didn't get off to a good start in this one. He plunked the first batter of the game, Carl Crawford, and allowed him to come around to score on a Matt Kemp single. However, Hefner recovered to pitch a solid game that kept the Mets competitive even as they were stymied early on by Korean sensation Hyun-Jin Ryu.

New York would finally break through against Ryu in the sixth inning when David Wright hit a sac fly, but the Mets failed to convert on any other opportunities they had. In the ninth, Scott Rice allowed a lead-off double to Nick Punto, who scored three batters later on an Andre Ethier RBI single.

Juan Uribe knocked in an insurance run later in the frame, which proved to be crucial, as Ike Davis led off the bottom of the ninth with a home run. Brandon League would allow no more runs, though, and the Mets fell to the Dodgers 3-2.
