AAA - Las Vegas 51s (10-12)__________________________________

TACOMA 5, LAS VEGAS 3 (Box)

Another day, another loss for Las Vegas at the hands of the Rainiers. Chris Schwinden had a relatively better outing than fellow AAAA-pitcher Collin McHugh last night, giving up only two earned runs over five innings. He put the team in an early hole, but the 51s came roaring back in the 5th, when Josh Satin singled in two runs, and even took the lead in the 6th, when Jamie Hoffmann grounded out but pushed in a run. The lead would be short lived, as Gonzalez Germen and Greg Burke coughed up three runs (two earned) in the last three innings. Vegas mounted slight rallies in the 8th and 9th, getting a man to second base both times, but nothing came of either.

AA - Binghamton Mets (12-11)_____________________________________

AKRON 7, BINGHAMTON 5 (Box)

The Akron Aeros took the rubber game of the series, outslugging the B-Mets 7-5, with the help of four home runs. Both teams were scoreless until the top of the 4th, when Akron scored two runs off of Jacob deGrom. The next four innings would be a cacophony of runs scored, with both teams scoring five runs. Unfortunately for the B-Mets, those two unanswered runs that deGrom allowed came back to bite them.

Hi-A - St. Lucie Mets (15-8)________________________________________

ST. LUCIE 9, TAMPA 2 (Box)

Noah Syndergaard won his first ballgame of the season, as St. Lucie trounced the Tampa Yankees 9-2. Syndergaard scattered five hits, walked one, balked, and allowed an unearned run over the course of his seven innings. The big Texan was otherwise dominant, striking out seven batters. Shane Greene, his Yankee counterpart, was a bit less so, and his replacement, Manny Barreda, was a total disaster- Barreda allowed four earned runs in his 0.1 IP. Robbie Shields jumpstarted the St. Lucie offense, going 4-5 with two doubles.

The inning streak continues for Savannah, as the Sand Gnats scored a pair of runs in late innings to win their sixth game in a row. The Power scored two runs (one earned) in the 1st inning off of Matt Koch to get out to an early lead. The Sand Gnats put up a run of their own in the bottom of the 3rd, when Cole Frenzel hit a double and drove in Brandon Nimmo, who reached base earlier in the inning after being hit by a pitch. The score would stay 2-1 until the bottom of the 8th, when Frenzle was driven in on a force out. The Power were unable to score against Tyler Vanderheiden in the top of the 9th, so the score remained tied going into the bottom of the 9th. After Nimmo and Jayce Boyd stuck out to begin the inning, Kevin Plawecki was hit by a pitch. Jeffrey Glenn singled, moving Plawecki to second. Up would come Frenzle, and yet again, he would be a deciding factor in the game, smacking a line drive to left field, allowing Plawecki to scamper home from second.

Star of the Night

Even though he has some stiff competition, because of his 9th inning heroics, Cole Frenzel is the Star of the Night. He was involved in scoring all three of Savannah's runs for the night- he drove in two, and was driven in himself.

Goat of the Night

There were no horrific performances yesterday, so Zach Lutz gets to wear the horns for his 0-fer performance on Sunday with 3 strikeouts. The 51s lost by a slim margin, so perhaps a hit or two might have been the difference in the game; regardless, for the amount of playing time he is receiving, Lutz is not responding particularly well.
