Final Score: Marlins 4, Mets 3 — The worst baseball game of 2013

The Mets spent 5 hours and 31 minutes losing to the Marlins.

USA TODAY Sports

Sometime on Monday evening, Matt Harvey made a start for the Mets. He allowed one run in 5.1 innings but used 121 pitches in the process and gave way to the Mets' bullpen. When he left, the Mets had a 2-1 lead thanks to a very long two-run home run by John Buck.

The Mets held that lead until the ninth inning, when Bobby Parnell allowed a run, thanks in part to a poor defensive play by Collin Cowgill. From there, the game went to extra innings.

And on and on and on and on and on it went. Over five hours after first pitch, Ruben Tejada put the Mets back in the lead with an infield single in the top of the fifteenth. And of course, the Marlins managed to score a pair of runs in the bottom of that inning against Shaun Marcum, wining the game on a sacrifice fly.
