Final Score: Mets 7, Phillies 2 — Harvey throws another gem, Mets handle Halladay with ease

The Mets had no problem scoring against Roy Halladay, and Matt Harvey was excellent again.

Brian Garfinkel

Sporting their new alternate road jerseys, the Mets easily beat the Phillies at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia this evening. Roy Halladay clearly isn't the Roy Halladay of old, and the Mets took advantage early and often.

John Buck continued his torrid start to the season with a three-run home run in the second to get the Mets on the board. They tacked on a fourth run in the third on a Lucas Duda single, and they scored three more in the fifth, the first on a David Wright single and the last two on a bases-loaded Ruben Tejada single.

To say Matt Harvey outpitched Halladay would be quite an understatement. He threw seven innings, allowed one run on a sacrifice fly, struck out nine, and walked two while allowing just three hits. Harvey's the best, basically. Josh Edgin threw the last two innings of the game and gave up one run, but it didn't much matter by then.
