Final Score: Cardinals 10, Mets 4 — Gee shelled, Mets lose fifth straight

Dillon Gee continued the Mets' trend of awful non-Harvey starts, and the Mets were blown out in St. Louis.

Jeff Curry-USA TODAY Sports

The Mets lost their fifth straight game in a blow out against the St. Louis Cardinals this evening. Dillon Gee allowed nine hits and six runs with five strikeouts and four walks in just four innings of work. The Cardinals scored three in the first and three in the third against him.

St. Louis added three in the fifth against Robert Carson on a three-run home run by Carlos Beltran to take a 9-0 lead before the Mets plated four in the sixth to make the game a bit less lopsided. The Cardinals tacked on another run in the bottom of the sixth when Jon Jay hit a solo home run against Carson. Neither team scored again in the game.
