Final Score: Cubs 8, Mets 2 — Why can't every day be Harvey Day?

The Mets didn't do anything of note in a dismal loss to the Cubs.

That's Cubs pitcher Scott Feldman doubling in a pair of runs.

Having won their previous two games, the Mets came into Saturday afternoon with a shot at their longest winning streak in quite some time. But they didn't even come close to winning the game.

Jeremy Hefner gave up four runs on five hits in four innings of work and now has a 5.00 ERA on the season. The Cubs did all of their damage against him in a four-run fourth inning. Robert Carson gave up a run on a solo home run in two innings of relief before Collin McHugh made his season debut and allowed three runs in two innings of work.

The Mets had a few baserunners early in the game, but they failed to score until Rick Ankiel hit a two-run home run in the ninth inning. With that, the Mets avoided being shut out, but the game inning shortly thereafter.
