Shaun Marcum had his best start of the season against the Braves this evening, and after scoring just one run through the first seven innings, the Mets came from behind in the eighth inning to win the game.
A solo home run by Lucas Duda in the fourth plated the first run of the game, and Marcum was brilliant in his start. He allowed just two runs in seven innings—both of which scored on a Dan Uggla home run in the seventh—and struck out twelve opponents without walking any.
Down a run in the eighth inning, the Mets tied the game on a single by John Buck and took a 4-2 lead on a bases-loaded single by Ike Davis. And Bobby Parnell set the Braves down in order in the ninth inning with a pair of strikeouts to put an end to the Mets' five-game losing streak.
