The Mets beat the Yankees at Citi Field on Monday evening, as Jon Niese had a very good start and the team once again came from behind late in the game for the victory.
Niese gave up just one run in seven innings, and it should have never scored in the first place. Brett Gardner reached on a triple—an easy fly ball to left field that was terribly misplayed by Lucas Duda—to begin the sixth inning and scored on a bloop single.
But David Wright hit a moonshot of a home run in the bottom of the seventh inning to tie the game, and a two-out single by Daniel Murphy in the ninth gave the Mets a one-run lead. Bobby Parnell struck out two and allowed just one baserunner for his second save in as many nights.
