Mets Morning News: Leathersich promoted, Harvey and a fan fall at Citi Field

Harvey days are generally the best day of the week, but unfortunately Matt Harvey still requires a little help from the Mets offense in order to get results. He wouldn't get much of that help yesterday, as the Mets fell to the Cardinals by a 2-1 score. The full box can be found here.

Speaking of falling, it wasn't just the players on the field taking part. This fan had one of the most hilariously gif-able moments in baseball history, and absolutely made my night. Thanks for that.

Everyone loves David Wright, so it makes perfect sense that most 'cougars' would love David Wright, as well. With that in mind, the Mets approached 'Cougar Life' with the idea of pushing for David Wright to start the all-star game.

Also on Thursday, 2011 5th-rounder Jack Leathersich was promoted to AAA Las Vegas.

This date in Mets history didn't have to go back very far in order to find a great moment. June 13 of last year saw R.A. Dickey throw a gem. Speaking of DIckey, 'Knuckleball' is now available to stream for those of you with Netflix.

Around Baseball

Two other NL East teams were in action yesterday, and both had better results than the Mets. The Phillies managed a 3-2 win over the Twins, while the Nats won by a score of 5-4 in Colorado.

Thirteen innings wasn't lucky for the Red Sox, as the Orioles won 5-4 in walkoff fashion last night.

Speaking of extra-inning walkoffs, the A's had a 3-2 walkoff win against the Yankees after 18 innings of play. Fun.
