On August 9, 2005, with the Mets trailing 6-2 in San Diego, Padres slugger Brian Giles, who had homered earlier in the game, turned a Dae-Sung Koo offering into a soft blooper destined for short-left field. Twenty-two-year-old David Wright would have none of that, twisting himself to make an over-the-shoulder bare-handed catch a dozen or so feet onto the outfield grass.
