Scott Atchison to DL, Andrew Brown called up from Triple A-Las Vegas

Scott Atchison has seen things you wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. C-beams glittering in the dark near the Tanhauser gate. Unfortunately for him, he may have just seen the end of his tenure with the Mets.

According to Marc Carig of Newsday, Atchison has been placed on the disabled list with a sore right groin. The 37-year-old right-hander suffered the injury in the second game of yesterday's doubleheader. He threw one warmup pitch and could proceed no further. Manager Terry Collins believed the injury was "semi-serious."

Before being activated for the doubleheader yesterday, Atchison had been on the disabled list since May 13 with tenderness in his elbow. He made 17 appearances this season for the Mets, recording a 4.50 ERA in 18 innings while having a 6/6 strikeout to walk ratio.

To fill Atchison's spot on the roster, the Mets have called up outfielder Andrew Brown from Triple-A Las Vegas. Brown had a very brief stint with the Mets earlier in the year, recording just three hits in 15 at-bats with one home run. However, Brown has been tearing it up in Las Vegas this year, hitting .346/.432/.660 in 153 at-bats.
