The Mets bounced back from a disappointing loss on Friday night with a crisp win over the Washington Nationals this afternoon. Dillon Gee allowed just one run with four strikeouts and three walks in six innings, and the team scored five runs over the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings. The Nationals' shaky defense helped create a couple of those runs, but the Mets had five hits in four-and-one-third innings against Washington rookie Taylor Jordan, too.
Carlos Torres threw the seventh and eight innings and didn't allow a run, thanks in part to an excellent barehanded play by David Wright on a slow ground ball with runners on base to end the seventh.
